- Presentations made to students: Lisa Rusali and Natalie Cannon in attendances
- HVDI proposal presented to students
- CNSM – recognition of graduates in May
- Students would like to have something to recognize their graduation.
- Would we like to do a Zoom webinar on May 19th with a series of presentations?
- One possibility might be
- Pre-ceremony zoomed for departments
- Live streamed benediction (Webinar) (or you-tube for later posting_
- The feeling was we should do something, but maybe focus on the department
- Could arrange them so dean could make them all
- Possibly Instagram with students doing photos and short videos on what they got
- What about at the departments, students submit testimonials dressed up on “stuff”stream that etc.
- Would be nice if the university did everything…
- Dean said department could start planning and he would check on next dean’s council
- Planning F2020 – Faculty Learning Communities?
- Currently sounds like Chancellor’s Office may make the decision regarding Fall classes systemwide.
- Remote delivery might be first 12 weeks and 3 weeks of hands on face to face
- Other topics raised:
- Bigger question: How many students are having trouble getting access
- Worry about students in one of two situations:
- Haven’t heard from and are planning to drop (reasons won’t be gone in fall)
- Student makes it through and is underprepared for fall.
- Need help for summer labs too
- Dean asked chairs to Consult this week with faculty about priorities for planning for fall
- Support courses that can be full converted online
- Conversion of laboratories in ways consistent with national standards
- Offering help to people who have problems with technology
- Reflective teaching online
- It was pointed out that there will need to be more direction for some faculty learning communities
- There is a 5-week webinar from ATS for this summer
- Dean will approach ATS about getting some input.
- General consensus was that FLCs over the summer with small recognition of effort was important and dean will send out request to chairs.
- Other items: We need feedback on SOAR timeline. If insufficient feedback comes prior to Thursday noon, we will have a CDC meeting on Friday.
- Future meetings for this term will stay at this time as the Provost is having meetings with the deans every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30-12:30.
- Meeting adjourned.
