Agenda: Approved.

  1. Minutes: Meeting minutes for Tuesday, 10/10/2017, were approved with one amendment.
  2. Announcements
    1. Thursday, October 19, 2017 is the 2017 International “ShakeOut” Day. The practice of drill of “drop, cover and hold on” is at 10:19am. You can get more information at: ShakeOut.org
    2. Djeneba Ahouansou (Financial Analyst, Biological Sciences) has started her maternity leave today (10/17/2017).
  3. Updates from Chairs
    1. Dr. Michael Harris has been published in Scientific Reports, titled “Rabies virus modifies host behavior through a snake-toxin like region of its glycoprotein that inhibits neurotransmitter receptors in the CNS”, dated October 9, 2017.
    2. The first observation of a two neutron star merger by LIGO/VIRGO was recorded. Dr. Prasanth Jaikumar (Physics and Astronomy) and Dr. T. Klähn work on related topic.
    3. Dr. Stan Finney gave his public presentation of the documentary “Flysch: the Whisper of the Stones” for Earth Science Week on Wednesday, October 11.
  4. Associate Dean Reports
    1. Dr. Barbara Taylor (Research) – Discussion on task force was tabled due to the discussion of the previous meetings minutes.
    2. Dr. Kris Slowinski (Instruction) – A power point presentation on student success in college coursework was given.
  5. Old Business
    1. Computer Refresh Program – College matching funding will be available to replace the hard drives in the computers.
