Johnson Award for Mentoring
The Cynthia S. Johnson Award for Mentoring recognizes individuals who have made a significant impact on emerging student affairs professionals through exceptional mentoring and concern for their welfare and professional development. Past recipients include

Eligibility: Practitioners, faculty, fieldwork/practicum supervisors, community members or other individuals who have significantly contributed to developing the “next generation” of student affairs practitioners. Current, full time SDHE faculty members are not eligible for this award.
Criteria: The Johnson Award recipient promotes:
- The belief that all students are integral to the success of higher education
- A commitment to access, equity, and the promotion of social justice
- The desire for lifelong learning by extending leadership and developmental opportunities to students and staff, mentoring them to achieve their full potential
- An environment that recognizes and rewards excellence
The Cynthia Johnson Award for Mentoring is presented at the Cynthia S. Johnson Forum for Student Development.
