EDLD Doctoral Student, Juan Garcia, Named Outstanding Faculty of the Year at Cypress College

Doctoral student, Juan Garcia, part of cohort XI in the College of Education's Educational Leadership doctoral program, has been named Outstanding Full-time Faculty of the Year at Cypress College, where he works as a counselor and coordinator of the Veterans Resource Center. Garcia is a Marine Corps veteran having served three deployments under Operation Enduring Freedom in the Middle East. At Cypress, Garcia teaches a veteran-only course focusing on academic and life skills helping veterans transition from military to college life. Additionally, Garcia has worked to create on-campus programs, resources, and develop funding for the Veterans Resource Center through grants, donations, and a yearly fundraiser.
