Camp Details
We are very excited to be able to offer Young Scientists Camp (YSC) for Summer 2025. We look forward to doing science with your kids!
We will be following all campus and state/local health guidelines. Please note that as campus health guidelines change, so too will our requirements. It is strongly recommended that campers be vaccinated, but proof of vaccination is not required.
When
Camp will run Monday-Friday, 8:30am-12:00pm, July 14-25, 2025.
Where
The camp takes place in the science laboratories on the campus of California State University, Long Beach.
Topics for this Year
We'll engineer bubble wands, playdough, straw rockets, parachutes, come-back cans, and more using the concepts of force & motion and properties of matter.
Fizz, pop, wow! We'll experiment with all sorts of different substances. We'll add and remove energy to change states and mix things together to make new things. Grab your goggles and do some chemistry with us!
When we explore oceans we need to utilize all of the scientific fields. Of course, there's marine biology, but there's also physics, chemistry and geology as we try to understand waves, tides, water, salinity and more!
Ever wonder how your camera captures images or how sound makes its way to your ears through your headphones? Join us as we explore the wonders of waves, light, and sound! From the colors of the rainbow to the workings of your favorite musical instruments, discover how waves, light, and sound shape our world.
Ever wonder how your favorite devices work? Have you dreamed of designing a machine to solve a problem or change the world? Join us in learning about various mechanisms and use your creativity to design a marvelous machine of your liking.

Parent Orientation
Thursday, July 10, 2025. We offer an optional parent orientation on the Cal State Long Beach campus in the Hall of Science (HSCI) room 103. You'll be able to meet your child's teachers, see their classroom, get an overview of camp, and have all of your logistical questions answered.
Parking information will be sent via email to registered campers.
Camp Open House
Friday, July 25, 2025. An invitation will be distributed during camp to attend the Camp Open House (tentatively 11:00am-12:00pm). RSVPs are required in order to receive 1 free parking permit per family for this event.
