Details of the Professional Excellence Award

• This award recognizes the student who has demonstrated excellent professional behavior and growth during their CSULB college experience.

  • Headshot Photo (will be used on the SCPD website and social media platforms)
  • Written Essay
  • Testimonials (optional)
• Essay
  • Titled paper, 12-point font Times New Roman, 1-inch margin, double-spaced, and no more than 3 pages long
  • Applicants must document their activities on and off campus, and how the knowledge and skills gained from SCPD programs enabled that professional behavior. Factors that are considered in this award would include active participation in professional organizations, a willingness to dress, act and speak in a professional manner, and a demonstrated effort to improve professional skills and attributes through workshops, reading and other professional development activities, including how the student has benefitted from specific SCPD learning experiences, and what the outcome may have been had it not been for these learning experiences.
• Testimonials (optional)
  • From mentors, bosses, trainers, business professionals and others will be helpful to the student’s case. The student’s ability to overcome physical, financial, language or other personal limitations will also be an important consideration.
• Applying for the Director's Award does not disqualify a student from applying to the Director's Award Scholarship.

Award: $1,000

• Winner will receive a $1,000 award and be recognized on the SCPD website and social media platforms.
