Details of the Director's Award

  • This award recognizes the student who has shown outstanding achievement and personal growth during their CSULB college experience.

Application Period

  • Applications will open in the spring semester

Important Requirements to Note

  • Application
    • Headshot Photo (will be used on the SCPD website and social media platforms)
    • Written Essay
    • Testimonials (optional)
  • Essay
    • Titled paper, 12-point font Times New Roman, 1-inch margin, double-spaced, and no more than 3 pages long
    • Applicants must document their achievements over the course of the academic year. Discuss the achievements both specifically and within the context of the student’s other activities, obstacles or other achievements. Factors to be evaluated include academic success, leadership in student organizations, participation in civic or volunteer activities, achievement in sports, arts or other personal endeavors and certificates, licenses or awards earned.
  • Testimonials (optional)
    • From faculty, mentors, employers, and civic leaders will be helpful to the student’s case. The student’s ability to overcome physical, financial, language or other personal limitations will also be an important consideration.
  • Applying for the Director's Award does not disqualify a student from applying to the Professional Excellence Award Scholarship.

Award: $1,000

  • Winner will receive a $1,000 award and be recognized on the SCPD website and social media platforms.
