Faculty and Student Collaborators Present at National Association for Research on Science Teaching Conference
Four faculty and student collaborators from the College of Education and the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics gave a presentation entitled “Student Perceptions of STEM and Attitudes toward STEM Workshops at a Youth Organization” at the National Association for Research on Science Teaching in Baltimore in April, 2016. The presenters were:
- Stephen Adams, Professor and Coordinator of Educational Technology and Media Leadership
- Paul Burns, a graduate student in the Educational Technology and Media Leadership M.A. program and an Academic Technology Specialist at CSULB
- Elaine Bernal, a lecturer in Chemistry and Biochemistry who is completing her doctorate in Educational Leadership
- Lisa Martin-Hansen, Professor and Chair of Science Education
The presentation focused on youth perceptions of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) before and after technology STEM workshops using educational technology were conducted by teachers last summer at a site of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Long Beach. The project was supported by Fluor, Chevron, and by a grant awarded by the CSU Collaborative for the Advancement of Linked Learning with funding from The James Irvine Foundation.
