The Introduction to AI Tools for Teaching and Learning course is a crucial step in understanding the AI-driven world we live in. Through guided experimentation, it empowers participants to understand the basics of AI functionality, including its workings and methods for detecting its usage. By learning basic AI terminology, engaging in hands-on exploration of AI Tools, and mastering strategies for detecting AI-generated content, participants will feel relevant and up-to-date. They will apply the knowledge gained to develop a personalized AI use policy for their course and find resources to stay updated in this dynamic field.
This course is modeled after the CSU Online Course Services program offered systemwide.
Course Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Articulate definitions and categories of AI, including common AI applications in education.
- Apply AI tools to create original text, images, audio, and other digital content.
- Discuss the implications of using AI tools in teaching and learning, considering impacts on educational equity.
- Evaluate the strengths and limitations of various AI content detection tools and strategies.
- Formulate policies regarding the appropriate and ethical use of AI tools within their individual courses and instructional contexts.
- Explore ongoing learning opportunities related to AI tools.
