Biology students and Assistant Professor Ari Martinez explore the Salton Sea for their class in ornithology, a branch of zoology that focuses on birds. More than 400 species of birds make regular use of the Salton Sea, according to the Audubon Society.

The LBSU women's basketball team, which finished 12-6 in the conference, was instrumental in helping the athletics department win the Dennis Farrell Big West Commissioner's Cup award, presented to the Big West school that has the most consistent success throughout each season. It was the school's ninth win since the award was first presented in 1998-99.
