Hara’s studies of choral music and international marketing at Cal State Long Beach served as a prelude to her legal career. Hara also helped the College of the Arts set up its first endowed faculty post, the Frank M. Pooler Professorship for Choral Studies.

She earned her law degree at Georgetown University Law Center in 1985 and from August 2005 through December 2012, held the post of senior vice president and general counsel of Warner Chilcott, since combined into pharmaceuticals concern AbbVie.

Now retired from her legal career, Hara chairs the governing board of the American Red Cross of Northern New Jersey and is a former board member for the YMCA of Montclair.
