Anabel Hernandez, who just completed her Single Subject Teaching Credential in Spanish, spent her final semester student teaching virtually as area schools moved to online instruction in the face of the pandemic. Hernandez taught Spanish I and Spanish II at Valencia High School in Orange County and worked to create a culture of support in her alternative modality classes. “I think it was important to frequently check in with them to ask how they were doing and let them know I was still there for them. Also, I always tried to make the material relevant for students,” shares Hernandez. Finished with her credential, Hernandez is now employed as a Spanish teacher at Valencia High!
