Dr. William Jeynes Updates Federal Guidance on School Prayer

In 2017, Dr. William Jeynes, Professor, Teacher Education, submitted recommendations to U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos requesting the U.S. Department of Education’s Guidance on Constitutionally Protected Prayer and Religious Expression in Public Elementary and Secondary Education, first released in 1995 under President Clinton, be updated to reflect current society and its diversity. Three years later, in early 2020, on National Religious Freedom Day, President Trump signed these new guidelines into action. A full article can be found on CNN.
