Kathleen Porter
Professor Kathleen Porter serves as a full-time Field Education Consultant for the CalSWEC Program. She provides support and advising to the BASW and MSW students regarding their field placements at CSULB.
Kathleen was formerly the UCCF Field Coordinator working with MSW interns placed at LA County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and the UCCF Training Coordinator/Simulation Trainer at the DCFS Training Academy at CSULB.
Kathleen is also a part-time lecturer at CSULB in the MSW program. She has taught the following courses; Community Projects, Child Welfare, Group Work for Children, Youth and Families and the Field Seminar course.
Prior to joining the UCCF Program at CSULB, Kathleen worked for 7 years as a Children’s Social Worker and Court Officer at LA County DCFS. She has a strong interest in macro practice and enjoys facilitating training sessions in the community. Additionally, Kathleen provided counseling services to adolescents struggling with eating disorders and co-existing disorders at Center for Discovery Treatment Centers in Los Angeles County. Her passion remains in enhancing the lives of children and families in our community.
