Dean's Welcome

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

It is with great enthusiasm and honor that I step into the role of Interim Dean for the College of Health and Human Services. As we embark on this new semester, I want to extend a warm welcome to all of you—whether you’re returning to campus or joining our community for the first time.

The beginning of a new academic term is always a time of renewed energy, opportunities, and inspiration. Our college stands at the forefront of preparing future leaders in healthcare, social work, public health, and beyond. Together, we will continue to embrace innovation, foster collaboration, and uphold the values of integrity, growth mindset, innovation and collaboration that define our mission.

To our students: You are the heart of our college. As you navigate your academic journey, remember that our dedicated faculty and staff are here to support and guide you every step of the way. Don’t hesitate to reach out, explore new possibilities, and push beyond your comfort zones—you have what it takes to make a difference in the world.

To our faculty and staff: Your commitment to academic excellence, research, and service is what makes this college extraordinary. Thank you for the hard work and passion you bring to cultivating the next generation of health and human services professionals. I look forward to collaborating with you to build on our shared successes.

Our priorities for the spring include following up on our strategic priorities and action items around Beach 2030; working toward the successful launch of the Doctor of Public Health degree for the fall of 2025; supporting the campus as we search for a new President of CSULB; and most importantly for the college, beginning the process of searching for a new permanent dean.

I am also pleased to welcome Dr. Roudi Roy as the college’s Interim Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Research.

Let us embrace this semester with curiosity, compassion, and determination. Together, we can achieve great things. I am excited for what lies ahead and grateful to be a part of this vibrant and dynamic community.

Wishing you all a healthy, productive, and inspiring semester!
