Geriatric Social Work Education Consortium (GSWEC) 2022-2023
The Geriatric Social Work Leadership Internship provides specialized geriatric training and stipends for Adulthood and Aging specialization graduate social work students who have satisfactorily completed their first year of field internship. The GSWEC Leadership Internship is a program of the Partners in Care Foundation (PICF) and was initially funded by grants from the John A. Hartford and Archstone Foundation. The PICF collaborates with the departments and schools of social work of CSULB, CSU Fullerton, CSU Los Angeles, CSU Northridge, CSU Dominguez Hills, USC, and UCLA to provide this unique training opportunity. Graduate Interns are placed at one of eleven Centers of Excellence. These comprehensive social service agencies throughout Los Angeles County combine didactic leaning and practice interventions to train social work interns to meet the challenges of geriatric social work leadership in the twenty-first century.
