Cell migration is a highly integrated, multi-step process that plays an important role in the progression of various diseases including cancer, atherosclerosis, and arthritis. There are various types and definitions of cell migration which will be discussed as part of this workshop. Invasive cells move through the extracellular matrix (ECM) into neighboring tissues in a process that involves ECM degradation and proteolysis. In this workshop, you will get hands-on experience on cell migration and invasion assays in two formats: Boyden Chamber Assay (aka Transwell invasion assay) and Wound Healing migration assay.
