Creating Sense of Belonging for STEM Students

In this webinar, panelists Dr. Charles Lam and Dr. Jaimi Paschal from California State University, Bakersfield, and Iqbal Atwal and Dr. Harold Stanislaw from California State University, Stanislaus provided an understanding of, and strategies for, using undergraduate research and peer and faculty mentoring activities to create a sense of belonging for STEM students at Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs). The panelists presented an overview of their project activities and various successes and challenges. The webinar also showcased student retention and completion data to analyze the impact of the project activities on the students’ sense of belonging to their STEM major and campus community.
