The Center for Evaluation and Educational Effectiveness (CEEE) is proud to host a webinar on the Advancing Inclusive Mentoring (AIM) program, which is a mentor training program developed at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) as part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Building Infrastructure Leading to Diversity (BUILD) Initiative. The overarching goals of AIM are to provide a variety of engaging training resources for faculty and staff members at CSU campuses and beyond to promote student success through positive and inclusive mentoring.

The AIM program provides an online learning experience through self-paced enrollment on a learning management system. The AIM modules are structured to meet key learning outcomes – communicating with your mentee, inclusive mentoring, cultivating mentee growth & development, facilitating mentee health & wellbeing, and mentee-centered mentoring. The modules help define the broad role(s) of an undergraduate mentor and focus on social justice mentoring and issues of equity, combating discrimination and culturally aware mentoring. To complement the online modules, the AIM Leader’s Manual includes group activities, discussion prompts, and session notes for facilitated discussions that can be transferred to any university interested in adopting the program.

In this webinar, you will hear perspectives from a panel that includes CSULB’s AIM Director, AIM faculty mentors, and the Director of the Faculty Center who oversees training and certification of the AIM program for faculty and staff at CSULB.
