Summer Research Program

The funded LSAMP Summer Research Program is a National Science Foundation initiative to increase enrollments of minority populations and under-served students within science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) research fields.

Students accepted into this program will conduct research with a CSULB faculty member for eight weeks during the summer.

How to Apply

Important: If you are not already a general LSAMP member, you must first apply to the general LSAMP program. You may apply to the general LSAMP program at any time.

Benefits

Students accepted in the LSAMP Summer Research Program will:

  • Conduct research with a faculty member. You will conduct research with a CSULB faculty member for eight weeks during the summer.
  • Receive a stipend. You receive a stipend (money) for doing research with a faculty mentor. Your faculty mentor will receive money for supplies.
  • Enhance applications to graduate programs. This program will help you become a competitive candidate for graduate programs (Master's or Ph.D.) in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
  • Continue on as a Research Fellow. If qualified, and pending faculty mentor approval, you may be eligible to continue into the academic year in the LSAMP Research Fellows Program.

Responsibilities

While in the program, you are required to attend all LSAMP Summer Research Program activities. These activities include professional development workshops, information on graduate programs, and the summer research symposium.
