Cam-An Navarro

Cam-An grew up in Gardena, California and decided in the 12th grade that she wanted to become a school counselor. She received a bachelor's degree in psychology with an education studies minor from UCLA and a master's degree in counseling with a pupil personnel services credential from Loyola Marymount University.

After completing her graduate studies, she became a school counselor at Santa Monica High School and worked there for nearly 10 years.  Cam-An is now a school counselor at North High School in Torrance, her alma mater.

In addition to her work with high school students, Cam-An is an application reader for UCLA Admissions.  She also serves on the executive board and the negotiations team of the local chapter of her union.

Prior to beginning teaching in CSULB's School Counseling program in 2018, she taught in Loyola Marymount University's Counseling program for two years.

Cam-An is passionate about her job as a school counselor and she is equally as passionate about mentoring future school counselors through supervising interns and teaching. She uses her work in the union as a tool for advocacy for school counselors in her district and the foundation for that work is always centered on what is best for students.
