Student Support that Endures – The Dean’s Endowed Student Teaching Scholarship
This year, thanks to the support of our generous donors, the Dean's Endowed Student Teaching Scholarship was able to support two students during their semester of student teaching. The scholarship, funded through annual support raised with a year-end appeal letter, was conceived by College of Education Distinguished Alumna, Marnos Lelesi (‘82 ‘83).
One of this year’s two recipients is Single Subject Credential Program student Nelly Arciniega who shares why scholarships are so critical to student success. “Scholarships are a critical source for students like myself, who, even though they hold a job, need help with economic stability. Economic stability allows for students to put focus on their studies and education. This is especially true at the moment that we are living through a pandemic where there is a lot of uncertainty.”
Receiving scholarship support is vital to students’ academic progress and success, allowing recipients to focus more on their classes and less time on figuring out how to pay for them. Arciniega says, “It is amazing to know that there are individuals who want to support the profession you have chosen and want to see you succeed. It makes our hard work worth the while and helps us get closer and closer to our academic goals.”
