CEEE Hosts First Annual HSI-STEM Summit (Spotlight)

The College’s Center for Evaluation and Educational Effectiveness (CEEE) hosted its first annual HSI-STEM Summit on August 30-31, 2017 at the CSU Office of the Chancellor. CEEE is leading the systemwide evaluation of 10 CSU HSI-STEM grants awarded by the Department of Education (DOE). Across these 10 participating CSU campuses, the DOE awarded over $50 million during the 2016-2021 period to help improve STEM persistence and graduation rates for Hispanic/Latino and/or low-income students. At this summit, principal investigators and evaluators from the 10 campuses collaborated and shared best practices. The CSU HSI-STEM team had the opportunity to learn from DOE HSI Division Director Beatriz Ceja and Program Manager Everardo Gil, as well as CSU Senior Strategist for Academic Success Dr. James T. Minor. The 10 participating CSU campuses with DOE HSI-STEM grants include: Bakersfield, Channel Islands, Chico, Fullerton, Humboldt, Long Beach, Monterey Bay, Northridge, San Bernardino, and Stanislaus. The HSI-STEM systemwide evaluation is conducted under the direction of CEEE Project Director and Educational Leadership faculty Dr. Erika Baldwin.
