Off Campus Community: Disability Mentoring Day (Virtual)
In celebration of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) invites jobseekers, students, and career advisors to attend our second annual Disability Mentoring Day (DMD) event on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, from 8:00 am – 10:00 am. This exciting DMD event is designed to promote career development for individuals with disabilities through career exploration with the NLRB.
The NLRB is an independent federal agency that protects employees from unfair labor practices and protects the right of employees to join together, with or without a union, to improve wages, benefits and working conditions. The NLRB conducts hundreds of workplace elections and investigates thousands of unfair labor practice charges each year.
This year’s theme United in Action: Embracing our Differences supports the NLRB’s priority to become a model employer for individuals with disabilities. This virtual event is designed to empower students and job seekers with disabilities, promote a diverse workplace, and provide information about career paths at the NLRB. This event will feature information about the NLRB’s positions, explore a typical workday in the life of a NLRB employee, identify necessary skills needed to work for the NLRB, provide workshops on resume building, an overview of workers’ rights, the Reasonable Accommodation Program, and more.
We welcome you to attend this event to learn about the NLRB!
