Dr. Caroline Lopez-Perry

Dr. Caroline Lopez-Perry is an Associate Professor and co-program coordinator in the School Counseling program. Dr. Lopez-Perry's research on school counselor leadership centers on the school counselors’ role in promoting equity in education through program design, service delivery, advocacy, and educational reform. Her additional research focus on group counseling, school counseling classroom instruction, career and college readiness, and the recruitment and retention of school counselors of color. Dr. Lopez-Perry takes pride in helping the school counseling profession develop the knowledge and skills to improve school counselor service delivery and K-12 educational outcomes and enjoys leading in-services and developing partnerships with school districts. 

Dr. Lopez-Perry is actively engaged in service to the counseling profession. She recently completed her third term on the board of directors for the California Association of School Counselors (CASC). She has served on the editorial board for the Journal for Specialist in Group Work where she contributed her expertise in the area of group counseling and counseling curriculum. Dr. Lopez-Perry has been a noteworthy leader in the California school counseling landscape. She was a member of the Pupil Personnel Services Credential Work Group for the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) and assisted in the development of the recently updated California CTC standards for school counselors. She can also be credited with contributions to the CASC Best Practice Guidelines for California School Counselors. Dr. Lopez-Perry is the recipient of the 2021 CASC Counselor Educator of the Year award and the 2019 Alabama Counseling Association Research Award.
