Classroom Assessment Techniques

When teaching, it’s essential to conduct formative assessments in order to gain an accurate sense of students’ progress towards the learning goals and adjust instruction accordingly.

In this two-part workshop series, we will examine how you can use evidence-based Classroom Assessment Techniques (CATs) in your teaching. Session 1 will focus on CATs for accessing students’ prior knowledge and beliefs about course content. Session 2 will focus on CATs for checking students’ understanding. In both sessions, we will explore a variety of low-tech and no-tech strategies you can use to assess student learning.

NOTE: These are virtual workshops that will be held via Zoom. Please bring a physical or digital copy of your course syllabus to each session.

Sessions will be recorded so that participants who are unable to attend live can still participate. Additional details about the certificate requirements will be provided during the sessions.
