The University Library is pleased to announce that, following a nationwide search, Khue D. Duong has accepted a tenure-track appointment as CSULB's new Science Librarian. Mr Duong earned his B.A. in Chemistry and English at UCLA, his M.A. in Linguistics at UC Santa Cruz, and his Masters in Library and Information Science at University of Washington. While at the UW Information School he worked for the Seattle Public Library, North Seattle Community College, and the NOAA Alaska Fisheries Center. He is a member of the American Library Association, the Association of College and Research Libraries, the Library and Information Technology Association, and other professional organizations.
In his assignment at CSULB Library Mr. Duong will be responsible for reference and consultation, departmental liaison, library skills instruction, and the selection of information resources, working with the students and faculty of the Departments of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Geological Sciences, Physics and Astronomy, as well as Environmental Science & Policy. Part Time librarian Catherine Outten will assume responsibility for Science Education customers, and will continue to be the library liaison and subject specialist for the Departments of Biological Sciences and Mathematics and Statistics; she and Mr. Duong will back one another up in providing professional services to these departments.
