Typically Offered Courses
“Typically Offered” refers to the term(s) in which a course is usually offered for the general student population, subject to sufficient demand and qualified instructor availability. This does not mean that the course is guaranteed to be offered during that term, only that it is normally offered that term. A course may be offered and then canceled due to low enrollment.
To support e-advising, specifically the Degree Planner, the course catalog in the student system includes the term(s) in which each course is typically offered. This allows students and advisors to navigate the curriculum, recommend appropriate schedules and create usable multi-year plans.
To review Typically Offered course information, run CS-Link report LBSR1141 Typically Offered Course Data.
Departments and colleges should review typically offered values for their courses prior to the advising/registration cycles for the fall and spring terms.
After curriculum updates are completed in February, Academic Scheduling will send a reminder to review typically offered terms along with all other course changes.

**Not currently offered -
A course may be coded “Not currently offered” because it may not be offered for a short period due to instructor unavailability, budget, or other reasons.
***Periodically offered -
A course may be coded “Periodically offered” because it is offered irregularly and/or there isn’t a corresponding term value. Courses that fall in this category are typically scheduled on a rotating basis or offered for a specific cohort only. Students are advised to check with the department for current plans.
- Typically offered terms should be indicated for each New Course submitted during the curriculum change cycle.
- Run the CS-Link report LBSR1141 Typically Offered Course Data, or LBSR008E Active Course Report. Insert a column next to the current value in the Typically Offered column and note any changes in red.
Changes can be submitted throughout the year as necessary via the Academic Scheduling ticketing system. If you have questions, please contact Academic Scheduling at x5-5508 or by submitting a help ticket.
