Yes, dual enrollment at Cerritos College is offered to all K-12 students. There are two pathways your student can take to take college level courses and receive credit toward a college degree. The first option for your student is to directly enroll and apply to Dual Enrollment at Cerritos College. Please contact a GEAR UP Parent & Family Specialist for more information on this option. The 2nd option is to have your student apply to an established college pathway at Norwalk HS and John Glenn HS. See college counselors at your school to learn more.
Students must complete the A-G course requirements and earn a grade of a “C” or better to be eligible to apply to the UC and CSU systems. Private universities may have different requirements. California community colleges are different and do not require A-Gs but it’s highly encouraged for the student to be more prepared.
GPA requirements vary. For UCs, students need a minimum of a 3.0 or above. For CSUs, students need a minimum of a 2.5 or above. For California Community Colleges, there is no G.P.A. requirement. For private schools, it depends on the school. See and print our College Systems resource page here.
Most programs require students to take General Education (GE) classes which include courses from a wide variety of topics. Students may also be required to take classes for their major, also known as their field of study.
