Brian Kwan
Brian Kwan, Ph.D.
Dr. Brian Kwan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Science at California State University, Long Beach. Previously, he was a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Department of Biostatistics at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). His interests include teaching and research in the areas of biostatistics, data analytics, and data science.
Dr. Kwan strives to create learning environments that provide students with opportunities to uncover and understand the ubiquitous nature of statistics and data in everyday life, while helping them discover the applications that are of most interest to them.
His research includes the development and implementation of novel statistical and data analytic methods for functional data with practical applications, particularly in public health and medicine. Beyond functional data, his research activities involve developing prognostic models and biomarker discovery in the areas of mental health, kidney disease, and reproductive health.
