Wendy Nomura, Ed.D., M.P.H.
Dr. Wendy Nomura is a Full-Time Lecturer in the Department of Health Science at California State University, Long Beach.
- She has worked for 15 years as a geriatric physical therapist. She maintains her license but has transitioned to teaching to focus on disease prevention.
- She has taught Medical Terminology, Contemporary Health Issues, Orientation to Health Science, Community Health, Human Sexuality, and Sex Education, and Introduction to Research Methods.
- She currently serves on the Health Science Curriculum Committee and the College of Health and Human Services Educational Policy Committee.
- She has previously served on the Academic Senate’s General Education Governing Committee and the Academic Appeals Committee.
She received her B.S. in Physical Therapy and Masters of Public Health at California State University, Long Beach and her Ed.D. in Organizational Leadership at the University of La Verne.
Her current research project investigates the barriers to senior transportation and how new technology could be used to increase senior independence and access. Previous research topics include exercise benefits in those over the age of 70, condom usage, muscle strengthening, and multicultural health education. In addition to her research, she focuses on curriculum development, program improvement, assessment, technology accessibility, and lecturer development.
