Sharon Konrad

Sharon Konrad, DNP, RN, CCRN-K, ACNS-BC, CNE is a professor at CSULB School of Nursing. She has been a faculty member since January of 2009. She started her career in higher education as a clinical instructor, advancing to a lecturer, and in August of 2020 she accepted a tenured track position.   

Dr. Konrad has co-led three independent study abroad courses to China, Vietnam and Guatemala. For over a decade, she has worked closely with the California Nursing Students Association as the Faculty Advisor and Co-Advisor. She prides herself on offering student nurses opportunities to enhance their professional development and expand their global outreach.

Dr. Konrad has spent 23 years working in adult critical care units; she returned to the bedside in January of 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. She was a travel nurse and practiced in 5 states and the US Virgin Islands. During her graduate studies she worked as a cruise ship nurse. As a bedside nurse she precepted multiple nurses, held the roles of charge nurse and code blue member, was the relief enterostomal nurse, and taught BCLS courses.

Dr. Konrad’s research interests include nursing education, student nurse anxiety associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, and professional identity obtainment.
