College of Business Launches John and Helen Apostle Incubator & Enterprise Lab

Published July 9, 2020

Beginning this Fall, CSULB students can enroll in the John & Helen Apostle Incubator & Enterprise Lab. The Apostle Foundation’s $1.5 million gift is a key milestone in CSULB’s vision for a formalized and inclusive educational approach that leverages our university’s robust public-private partnerships and empowers learners in our diverse Long Beach community to pursue entrepreneurship.

The Apostle Enterprise Lab is a new two-course entrepreneurial training experience housed in the College of Business. Each year, 25 to 30 students will be selected from colleges across campus to form interdisciplinary cohorts – half students of business, and half students from other colleges – emphasizing a strong foundation in business while maximizing innovation and creative thinking.

The Lab will immerse students in the theory and practice of new business creation, while the Incubator will provide hands-on, applied opportunities that will connect the university’s rich talent pipeline to the greater Long Beach community. Students will benefit from a community of entrepreneurs and develop ties within the larger entrepreneurial ecosystem that currently exists in Long Beach.

The Apostle Incubator, previously known as the Beach Incubator, will be an enhanced resource to students and community members looking to develop and hone business plans.

College of Business Dean Michael Solt will direct the work of the Apostle Incubator & Enterprise Lab and oversee two teams who will manage the incubator and lab, respectively.
