Immigration Check-In
Mandatory Check-In for F-1 International Students
All students starting a new academic program in CSULB must complete the Online Immigration Check-In to have their Check-In hold removed and to meet F-1 reporting requirements with the Department of Homeland Security. Failure to complete the Check-In may result in being disenrolled from classes.
Online Check-In Procedures
Go to your MyCSULB Account and enter your current:
- U.S. Mailing Address
- Telephone number
- Home email (your campus email will be the student csulb.edu account)
This information must be provided in a timely manner and be fully accurate to have your F-1 visa status properly registered with the Student & Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS).

Save clear images of these immigration documents as a PDF file on your personal device:
- International Student Info and Responsibility Pledge.pdf
- F-1 Visa
- Passport Information page
- Most recent entry stamp or I-94 recent electronic record (saved as a PDF or JPEG file)
- Copy of CSULB form I-20 pages 1 and 2 with your signature
Current Students:
If you did not complete the check in process and have a CIE Check In hold on your student account, please email cie-iss@csulb.edu for further instructions
Fall 2025 New Students:
Complete the online immigration check-in within 3 days from your arrival to the United States. You can only complete the online immigration check-in in the Center for International Education Canvas Course.
- Accessing Canvas: New international students will receive an invitation via their student email address to join the Center for International Education Canvas Course. You must accept this invitation to join the course. If you have not received this invitation or cannot locate it, please email us and request to be added to our CIE Canvas Course: cie-iss@csulb.edu

- If you have not entered the US you will not be eligible to complete the check-in survey
- If you have not verified that your I-94 record shows that you entered the US in F-1 status you will not be eligible to complete the check-in survey
- If you have not updated your MyCSULB account with your current US residential address, even if it's a temporary address, you will not be eligible to complete the check-in survey
Students who do not complete the immigration check-in will have a registration hold in their student accounts which will prevent further registration actions.
