Art Books Created by Sue Ann RobinsonCSULB Fiber Lecturer Sue Ann Robinson  is the Artist-in-Residence in the Ralston Family Learning Center at the Long Beach Museum of Art for six weeks beginning Thursday, July 6 through August 10, 2017. Robinson will be working on book series entitled, “The Walking Fools.” Robinson’s artist’s books are in many public and private collections including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Getty Research Institute, UC Berkeley, and Yale University among many others. During her residency, Sue Ann Robinson will have free, drop-in workshops demonstrating different book art structures. They will be offered on Thursday evenings from 5PM to 8PM in the Ralston Family Learning Center. These book making workshops are supported in part by the Arts Council for Long Beach and the City of Long Beach. The first workshop on Thursday evening July 6 will be instruction in single sheet books. Subsequent Thursday evenings will include pamphlet stitch, multi-signature stitched binding, long stitch book binding, dos-a-dos book, and a flag book workshop. Workshops are free, materials and equipment will be provided. No book binding experience needed. Space is limited, first come, first served. Admission to the Museum is free on Thursday evenings.
