On Friday October 27, 2023, we held our first joint CSULB-OSU PREM Symposium with over 35 participants, 9 of which came from The Ohio State University. This was an all-day event beginning with a welcome talk by Prof. Peterson followed by a research talk by Prof. Goldberger, who is the director of The Ohio State University's NSF Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC): The Center for Emergent Materials (CEM).
In addition, there were two student research talks. One was by CSULB M.S. student Mahfuzun Nabi and the other was by OSU Ph.D. student Will Koll.
After lunch there was an engaging student research poster session in front of the Physics and Astronomy Department office with approximately 15 posters and a student panel on grad schools/jobs jointly hosted by the Society of Physics Students and PREM.
The Symposium ended with dinner and a bonfire at Bolsa Chica State Beach.
