Graduate Travel Awards
The University awards various funds to graduate students in order to help defray the cost of travel to academic or scholarly events.
SLD Travel Grant
The Office of Student Life and Development offers an Academic Travel Grant of up to $400. Graduate students who are presenting a paper or poster can apply for reimbursement of conference registration fees, transportation, lodging and memberships. Eligibility requires enrollment in 9 units at the time of application and the semester the academic travel is requested, as well as a cumulative 3.00 GPA.
Application Deadlines
April 30 for conferences between December 1 and April 30 (notified by 2nd week of May).
November 30 for conferences between July 1 and November 30 (notified by 2nd week of December)
ASI Travel Grant
Associated Students Ins. (ASI) offers a student travel fund. Applications must be submitted no less than 3 weeks prior to the proposed date of departure (late applications will not be accepted). If you are traveling to present your own academic research, you can request reimbursement for transportation and conference/registration fees. If you are attending a conference for your own academic enrichment and not presenting research, you can request reimbursement for conference/registration fees only.
Graduate Travel Fellowship
The Graduate Travel Fellowship provides up to $1,000 to post-baccalaureate students enrolled in a CSULB master's, doctoral, credential, or graduate certificate program who are presenting at an academic conference. Support is available for all students (including international, and AB540 students).
- Students who have been selected to present a paper, talk, poster, or performance, in person or remotely, at a scholarly conference or convention are eligible to apply for up to $1000 in university travel support.
- Students who are attending or volunteering at a scholarly conference or academic meeting, but not presenting a talk, poster, or performance, are eligible to apply for the cost of the conference registration.
- NOTE: Because funds are limited, the Graduate Travel Fellowship is awarded only once per graduate student per academic year on a first come, first served basis.
- Fall 2024 applications are now open. Begin the application process here.
