Sam Zeff

Sam Zeff, PhD

Dr. Sam Zeff is an Assistant Professor of Biomechanics in the Kinesiology Department at California State University, Long Beach. His research focuses on creating safer sporting environments through biomechanical screenings and separately, return-to-play assessments following injuries. His work emphasizes the influence of perceptual and cognitive factors on motor control, with a particular focus on concussions and repetitive head impact exposure. He utilizes coordinative analyses to better understand the underlying dynamics contributing to changes in injury risk factors, in conjunction with cortical neurophysiologic assessments to examine the neural mechanisms mediating these responses. He also leads collaborative efforts in sport biomechanics with the California State University, Long Beach Athletics Department, aiming to foster a safer sporting environment.
