Mischelle Van Brakle

Full-Time Lecturer in Criminology and Criminal Justice

 

Mischelle Van Brakle earned a BA in psychology and an MA in English from Shippensburg University. She also holds a juris doctor degree from the Dickinson School of Law of the Pennsylvania State University and a PhD in criminology and criminal justice from the University of Maryland.

Mischelle Van Brakle has a wide range of experience in the fields of criminology and criminal justice. She spent almost five years as Assistant Professor and Chair of the Criminology Department at Notre Dame of Maryland University. She co-led a domestic violence awareness program called the Clothesline Project at the Maryland Correctional Institution for Women for three years. She also worked as a commissioner for the District Court of Maryland, Howard County, and served as a congressional fellow assigned to the Senate Judiciary Committee, working in the late Senator Edward Kennedy’s (D-MA) office.
