In fall 2022 Professor Connie Ireland of the School of Criminology, Criminal Justice and Emergency Management (CCJEM) was appointed as the Faculty Fellow for Research.  Dr. Ireland has extraordinary expertise in human subjects’ protection issues, having served on the CSULB Institutional Review Board (IRB) for several years.  In her role as Faculty Fellow she is available to all students and faculty in CHHS who need assistance navigating the cumbersome and complex system for IRB protocol submission and approval.  Her efforts have resulted in reducing the time it takes for IRB protocols to be approved.  She also provides guidance on IRB protocols submission revisions.  This spring, she is seeking the PRIM&R - Certified IRB Professional (primr.org) credential, with support from the AVP for Research and Economic Development and the ORED team. CIP is the national designation for expertise in human subjects’ protection topics, IRB responsibilities, institutional responsibilities, federal regulations, and guidance for compliance with federal IRB policies and practices.  She can be reached at Connie.Ireland@csulb.edu.
