Naeema Aziz

As chief operating officer of Apex Projects Development (APD) Company, Naeema Aziz is currently directing development of the $1 billion “International Medical City,” a new regional hub for transplant-based medical tourism in the Sultanate of Oman. Previously, Aziz served as senior director and as practice leader for health care for Ernst & Young in the Middle East and as senior consultant advisor to the Ministry of Health in Bahrain, where she introduced system-level change initiatives that improved management and operations at the kingdom’s largest public-sector hospital. Other career highlights establishing and managing the cardiovascular physiology and molecular cardiology research labs for the VA Long Beach Healthcare System and serving as an assistant professor and a senior research scientist at the National Human Genome Center at UCI. Aziz has also been a featured speaker at several international congresses on healthcare quality and performance management. Born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan, Aziz is actively engaged in social and cultural programs that link her native and naturalized countries; she was the founding president of the Alumni Association of the University of Karachi in North America and the chair of the Women’s Committee of the Islamic Society of Orange County. In addition, she is a virtual mentor to CSULB students interested in exploring international health issues in the Middle East. Aziz enjoys spending time with her husband, Nurul; their children, Asra, Areeb, and Atyab (a current CSULB student); and new granddaughter, Ameena. She also likes to cook, decorate, garden, read, and travel.
 

Pamela Macdonald Regnier

Pamela Macdonald Regnier transformed the lives of countless CSULB students, faculty, and staff — and, of course, their children — through her visionary leadership of the Isabel Patterson Child Development Center (IPCDC). A longtime substitute teacher and the illustrator/co-author of the Prentice-Hall book Growing Up Equal: Activities and Resources for Parents and Teachers of Young Children, Macdonald Regnier joined the center in 1976 and served as its director from 1982 until her retirement in 2001. Her accomplishments include working with IPCDC parents and with donor and fellow alumna Isabel Patterson on an expansion plan for a school-age facility, an ethnic village, playground and ADA accessible offices. She also formed the California Council of Children’s Center Directors Association, a highly effective CSU-wide advocacy group that succeeded in making child care a CSU budget priority, and later re-teamed with Patterson, VP Jack Shainline and Development Officer Deborah Veady on another expansion effort to serve infants and toddlers at CSULB. Macdonald Regnier has been a generous supporter of many university initiatives including Women and Philanthropy, serving as chair from 2010 – 2012. The Regniers’ daughters Julie and Michelle graduated from CSULB in Recreation and Art in 1988 and 1990. Sons Dustin (a member of the first IPCDC graduating class) and Paul both attended CSULB as well. Macdonald Regnier enjoys gardening, traveling and restoring her Morris Minor Woody. She also participates in CSULB alumni activities and supports President’s Associates, Athletics Director’s Circle, Japanese Garden friends, FAA, the Peach Tree Fund, Recreation Department, Alumni Center and of course, Women and Philanthropy.
