Student Assistant Employment

It is the practice of the California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) to provide equal opportunity to all employees including its students and to comply with all applicable federal, state and CSU employment policy. The purpose of the Student Assistant Employment Web site is to make available established standards, priorities and guidelines for supervisors and students employed on-campus. The term “student assistant” is to be interpreted as any student employed on campus other than those covered in bargaining unit 11, CSULB Foundation or Associate Students, Inc (ASI).

Purpose

Student employment on campus provides useful supportive services to the various academic and administrative programs and/or departments, offers students valuable experience related to their educational goals, and assists with financial support to help meet the cost of attending college.

Eligibility

In general, undergraduate and graduate students must be enrolled in at least six units per term to qualify for student employment. Students must maintain a minimum grade point average (G.P.A) of 2.0 to qualify for and continue their employment.

Student Assistant New Hire Packet

New Student Assistants should complete the Student Assistant New Hire Packet paperwork via DocuSign. Once the forms are completed, they should be printed and brought to the Payroll department at Brotman Hall 344. Students must also bring an original Social Security card and the appropriate documentation to establish eligibility to work in the United States, as listed on the I-9 form.
