The College of the Arts (COTA) at California State University, Long Beach is one of the largest and most comprehensive state-supported arts schools in the country, with more than 3,200 students enrolled in six outstanding academic units: The Bob Cole Conservatory of Music (the only conservatory of its kind in the CSU system), the departments of Dance, Design (Industrial and Interior), Film & Electronic Arts, and Theatre Arts, and the School of Art. The College offers more than 500 events each year, drawing approximately 200,000 patrons to the campus. COTA venues and organizations include six student and community performance halls, five student art galleries, the University Art Museum, the 1100-seat Richard and Karen Carpenter Performing Arts Center, and the Royal Theatre situated on the Queen Mary. Professional degree programs offered by the college include the Bachelor of Science (Industrial Design), Bachelor of Fine Arts (Art, Dance and Design), Bachelor of Music, the Master of Music, the Master of Fine Arts (Art, Dance, Design, Theatre Arts), and a joint MFA/MBA degree in Theatre Management.
