Health Insurance
The Student Health Services provides basic care for acute medical conditions, injuries, and illnesses, as well as support services such as Behavioral Health, Psychiatry, Case Management, Laboratory, Pharmacy, X-ray, Acupuncture, Sports Medicine, and Wellness programs. Most care and services are free of charge with the exception of the pharmacy, laboratory, and immunization clinic.
All students enrolled for the current semester have paid a $75.00 Student Health Fee included with tuition, which provides access to the Student Health Services. Please note that the Student Health Fee is not health insurance and Student Health Services does not bill or accept insurance.
It is strongly recommended that students have health insurance to cover hospitalizations and other specialty services not available at the Student Health Services. If you are interested in purchasing health insurance, please visit the Covered California website.
If your income is $1400/month or less and your parents do not claim you on their taxes, you may be eligible for Medi-Cal at no cost to you. If you are currently enrolled in Medi-Cal in another county, you will need to change your Medi-Cal to LA County to access local providers; call your home county case worker to update your address. Our Case Manager can assist with any Medi-Cal questions.
