Student Orientation, Advising and Registration
Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration (SOAR) is a comprehensive, program for all new first-year and transfer students, designed to holistically support their academic and social transition to California State University, Long Beach. By providing a set of common shared experiences, SOAR aims to educate students on university policies and academic resources while fostering meaningful connections and a sense of community. Rooted in the university’s mission to provide highly valued undergraduate opportunities, the program sets the tone for student achievement, personal growth, and long-term success.
All new first-time/first-year and transfer students are required to complete SOAR, as it is a mandatory program for all incoming students.
Your SOAR Experience
Incoming students for Fall 2026 will make a SOAR reservation in their SSO starting on April 2, 2026.
Sessions take place between June 10 and August 12.
