A grant of $23,100 from the Long Beach Community Foundation's LBCF Community Impact Fund was awarded to Dr. Laura Henriques, Emeritus Professor, and the Department of Science Education to support the Science Education Experience to help Underserved Students Succeed program (SEE US Succeed!), a summer science camp experience for Long Beach Unified foster youth and students experiencing houselessness.

SEE US Succeed! is part of the Young Scientists Camp, a long-standing program held on the CSULB campus that provides science academic enrichment for area youth as well as a mentored teaching opportunity for university students entering the teaching profession. Children participating in SEE US Succeed! also receive additional services as part of their camp experience, including vision screening and glasses (if needed), backpack and school supplies, daily snacks and lunch, and transportation to/from the CSULB campus.

SEE US Succeed! and Young Scientists Camp are held every July.

For more information on SEE US Succeed!, please contact ysc@csulb.edu or Laura.Henriques@csulb.edu.

If you would like to support the Young Scientists Camp and/or the SEE US Succeed! program, please considering Giving to Young Scientists Camp.
