Laurie Gatlin
Laurie Gatlin is an Assistant Professor of Art Education. She has extensive experience teaching art at the middle school and high school levels. As a researcher and teacher, she is interested in contemporary and historical theories of art education, reflective journals as a tool in the classroom, working with special needs students and art, a/r/t/ography and other forms of art based research. She has presented extensively at state and national conferences. Her research is centered on classroom practice and continuing support for practicing art teachers. Her painting and sculpture has been included in group shows at Woodburn & Westcott gallery and other venues in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Matrix Gallery — Indiana University School of Education
The mission of the Matrix Gallery at IU School of Education is to exhibit art and educational achievement of artists and students of Bloomington and the surrounding Indiana Communities. I coordinated the gallery shows for 2009–2010.
- Student work — showcase of children's artwork produced during practicum experiences by students in Art Education II Methods class. (2010)
- Festival of the Arts — works from the spring art show at Fairview Elementary under the direction of art teacher Hannelore Meier. This exhition featured the work of K-5th grade students. (2010)
- D(iv)ine Hearts — work of Summit Elementary art students under the direction of Ms. Bess Bohon-Lee. This exhibition showcased the teaching of a local area art teacher and displayed the student outcomes. (2010)
- Art Explorations — work of the Saturday Art Sessions program under the guidance of student teachers in the Art Education program. (2009)
- Stone Belt Arc — work of the studio artists at Stone Belt, the largest service provider for adults with developmental disabilities in southern Indiana. Artwork highlighted the need for arts instruction for people of all abilities and disabilities. (2009)
