Brian Trimble
Dr. Brian Trimble is Assistant Professor and Program Head for Art Education at California State University, Long Beach. He teaches cross-cultural and community-based practices and contemporary issues in art education. He was a high school art teacher and also worked for over a decade as a museum educator and administrator. Dr. Trimble served for the past eight years on the board of the Arts Council for Long Beach, including two years as president, and is one of the founders of Long Beach Architecture Week, a community-focused event that explores and celebrates design and the built environment in our city, past and present, as a means to understand our future. His practice has a strong focus on engaging both students and the community.

Dr. Trimble’s research interests include student development, student success, access, equity and inclusion in education, culturally relevant teaching, community-based art education practices, and High Impact (teaching) Practices (HIPS). He also has an interest in design and its impact on the community.
His practice is collaborative, as he believes we have better ideas and solve issues more effectively when we work with others. This collaborative practice is reflected in his teaching, service, and research. He has presented at the state and national levels on issues related to college student success in higher education, Social Justice approaches to pedagogy, High Impact (teaching) Practices, and art and architecture. He has also published on related issues.
