"Inspired Printmaking" exhibition of student works in CSULB Special Collections Library

Inspired Printmaking is the first ever exhibition of CSULB School of Art student works at the University Library Special Collections and University Archives. Students from the Fall 2024 semester of Art 370 - Core Studio: Printmaking Survey were invited to visit the Special Collections to view and respond to a selection of works from the archive. While the Special Collections possesses a wide selection of printmaking, photography, and rare books, the Art 370 students created etchings as part of their research process. Their inspired works underwent a series of developmental iterations, first beginning with line etching, then progressing to other image states including drypoint, aquatint, and various hand-coloring techniques. This exhibition was organized by Michael Nannery, Art 370 instructor (Fall 2024) and Gallery Coordinator in collaboration with Heather Steele Gajewski, University Archivist. The exhibition will run from March 18th through May 2nd, 2025. There will also be two lectures and discussion led by Michael Nannery about the master artists included in this showcase on Tuesday, March 18th, 12pm-1pm — Opening reception for the exhibition (Light refreshments will be served); and on Wednesday, March 19th, 12pm-1pm — Lecture and discussion about the master artists included in this showcase.
