Historic Animation shorts and film of H.G. Wells The Time Machine to be screened in Beverly Hills

Puppetoon Productions and Maxwell DeMille are pleased to present an exclusive cinema event featuring George Pal’s iconic film The Time Machine (1960) and three brilliantly restored Puppetoon stop-motion animated shorts. This special event will take place on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the Historic 1937 Fine Arts Theatre, located at 8556 Wilshire Blvd, Beverly Hills, California, with showings at 2 PM and 8 PM.

This promises to be a landmark screening, featuring the 65th Anniversary of George Pal’s Academy Award® winner The Time Machine, considered one of the greatest science fiction films ever produced, along with three Oscar® winning Pal Puppetoons. Time Machine and Puppetoons will return to the big screen restored from their original Technicolor® negatives, providing a unique opportunity to see them as they were originally intended.

Both screenings will feature special guest Arnold Leibovit, director-producer of The Puppetoon Movie and Executive Producer of The Time Machine (2002). The 2PM screening will also feature a conversation with Leibovit and noted animation historian Jerry Beck.

Arnold Leibovit has been instrumental in preserving Pal’s work and will share insights about these iconic films. "The Time Machine has inspired imaginations for decades and was a key influence in my career as a filmmaker. It was a privilege to have met George Pal and restoring his 'Puppetoons' to their original Technicolor brilliance has been a lifelong passion fulfilled. I'm excited to share these films with both new audiences and longtime fans!"
